Curd... Dahi... for the stomach...
Curd is an amazing invention that’s transformed from Milk... So, we can say Milk transforms into curd after a very simple yet complex procedure...
In every culture, curd is eaten either before food, or it’s eaten mixed into food, or it’s eaten after food... be it morning, afternoon or night...
In some families curd is a part of main course meals... food is never served without curd...
We have always been hearing about the benefits of curd... definitely it is very much beneficial, as it’s a probiotic food... Kids are given a spoon of curd before going for their exams... Grown ups are fed a spoon of curd by their mom’s when they have to go out for any important work... but why?
The reason being... curd is a probiotic food... when we eat curd... it keeps our guts healthy... we will not get a stomach upset... what is the link between keeping stomach healthy when we go out for any work?
Hmmm... throughout my life, my father and later my mother in law always kept saying that stomach is the main root cause of any illness... huh?
Yes... when we have to complete any task... like exams, interviews, job to be done on target, etc... our tensions increase... the more the brain takes stress and pressure... the more our stomach starts getting upset... like it causes acidity... and we end up concentrating on our stomach upset rather than our task... by the way... I’m not a doctor... but... life teaches us many more things that we could have imagined otherwise....
So, if we just follow a simple rule of eating a bowl of curd on a daily basis we can keep ourselves healthy and manage stress...
When are the other most important times to eat curd...
@ During loose motions... take curd at least twice in a day... either a bowl full twice... or, mix it with plain rice... that’s called curd rice...
You can give curd to kids as well when they suffer from Loose Motions... it helps in solidifying the motions...
@ During acidity problems... if you are a person who has been diagnosed with severe acidity illness then you definitely have to eat a bowl of plain curd twice a day...
@ Curd for healthy bones... have your bowl of curd along with a full spoon of sugar in it... this helps the grown ups esp. old people too... and of course helps kids to develop healthy bones...
even otherwise it can be taken anytime during the day... in case your kid complains of stomach ache...give them bowl full of curd, with or without sugar... it’s always better to give without sugar...
Lastly... Why have I mentioned that curd has to be taken only twice a day? Why not at night too?
Yes... curd should NOTbe taken at night... because, it causes phlegms, cold and cough... I do not know if many of you have observed... but, it does disturb our respiratory system, if taken at night... so you must avoid eating curd at night.
